Program Office/Description: 

The Office of Religious and Independent School Support (ORISS) is the Õý°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¼Ç¼×ÊÁÏ office that has the primary responsibility of assisting New York State’s religious and independent schools to support their students. ORISS provides technical assistance in the areas of school start-up, operations, high school registration, professional development, substantial equivalency, and funding opportunities. It also provides guidance to families who voluntarily choose to homeschool.

The Assignment (Description of Job): 

Scope
- This internship will give insight into one of largest grant administration units (+$300M) at Õý°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¼Ç¼×ÊÁÏ.ÌýÌý
- Work within ORISS to assist with delivering quality customer service, funding opportunity guidance, technical support, and continuous grant improvement processes to Religious & Independent Schools throughout NYS.Ìý

Activities/Assignments (may include):
- Fielding grant-related inquiries
- Providing technical assistance for the grant application process
- Developing grant-related resources/content for the ORISS websiteÌý
- Internal controls/auditing
- Assisting with grant screening and processing, including the review of financial paperwork such as receipts and invoices, data entry and other administrative tasks
-Scanning documents to assist with ORISS goal of digitizing

- Attend a NYS board of Regents Meeting
- Attend a Commissioner's Advisory Council Meeting
- Attend a NYS Diversity and Inclusion Celebration Event, such as the Black History, Pride, Women and Indigenous PeopleÌý

Schedule/Hours: 

The unit operates Monday through Friday, 6:30am-4:30pm.
During the Fall and Spring term, an intern may work 3-5, 3-hour shifts (one of these shifts may be remote)ÌýÌý
Maximum of 20 hrs/week.
