Statement from Commissioner Elia on Charter Advocacy Day

Since I became Commissioner seven months ago, I've travelled more than 20,000 miles all around the state.Ìý I've been to hundreds of events and met with thousands of New Yorkers – students, parents, teachers, administrators, union leaders, community and business leaders.Ìý

Some of those New Yorkers agree with me; some don't.

Tomorrow, I willÌýtake another opportunity toÌýmeet and speak with parents about the importance of high expectations for all students.Ìý

I'm not interested in politics or pushing political agendas.Ìý I've made a commitment to communicate to as many New Yorkers as possible as we try to help our students succeed. ÌýNothing should get in the way of that.
